Job Description


Main Purpose: To perform maintenance, repairs, installations and site support services across company facilities and client sites, including workshop-based duties, travel to various operational sites, container conversions woodworking and ensuring environmental compliance and responsible work practices.

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Perform basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical repairs (repair doors, locks, windows, roofing sheets, ceilings and fittings, patch, paint and maintain walls and structural surfaces.
  • Conduct minor welding and fabrication repairs (if competent).
  • Construct and install wooden structures such as shelving, office partitions, cupboards, storage units and workbenches.
  • Repair wooden doors, frames, skirting and roofing supports.
  • Measure, cut, and assemble materials accurately according to specifications.
  • Ensure neat finishing and Professional workmanship.
  • Travel to various company and client sites as required and carry out on-site repairs, installation and maintenance.
  • Assist with breakdown support and urgent repair work.
  • Ensure safe transport of tools and materials.
  • Conversion of shipping containers into site offices, storage units, workshops and ablution facilities.
  • Install insulation, ceilings, partitioning, flooring, doors and fit windows, security gates and ventilation systems.
  • Perform structural modifications and reinforcements as required.
  • Install electrical lighting and plug points (within legal compliance).
  • Ensure environmentally responsible disposal of waste materials.
  • Separate scrap material (steel, wood, electrical waste) for recycling and minimise material wastage during projects.
  • Prevent oil spills, chemical contamination and environmental hazards and always maintain clean and safe work areas.
  • Comply with environmental policies and site regulations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of building and infrastructure and identify potential safety and environmental risks.
  • Assist with planned maintenance schedules.
  • Any other job-related duties as required from time to time.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Grade 12.
  • Qualified Artisan.
  • 3-5 Years’ experience in carpentry and container conversions is advantageous.
  • Must have basic electrical and welding knowledge.
  • Physically fit and able to travel to various sites.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
